This is purely hypothetical. I haven't had a crash yet (knock on wood), but I want to be prepared if it does happen. How should I respond and act? What advice do you wonderful Opponauts have?
Edit: I am looking for advice both if you are to blame or if someone else is.

chase the person down who caused the crash, and go to work on them with an aluminum baseball bat. don't let their excuses slow you down.
if you're to blame, seppuku

-Get as much of their info as possible (insurance, contact, name, license plate).
-always call the cops if it's NOT your fault.
-Take a ton of pictures of both vehicles.
-Get a business card/info from the police officer.
-If it's your fault, you may want to consider offering paying for the damages right then and there, having at-fault accidents on your record is a bad thing, although sometimes unavoidable.

While not the most useful information, it certainly is funny.

According to my company's defensive driving course, call the police and insurance company, exchange insurance and drivers license, take lots of photographs of the scene (your insurance will love you when they're duking it out with the other insurance co for damages) and cooperate with cops once they get there. If it's a minor accident, snap a photo and get off the roadway if you can still move so you stay out of traffic. I'm not sure what else needs to be done.
I should add, it helps to have a photocopy of your license and insurance in the car that you can give to the other party.
That said, in 11 years driving I've never been in an accident. The last car I was in involved in a wreck was age 8 (thanks Dad.)

if your at fault, cry, if they are at fault, jump from your vehicle and scream at them. If you are not at fault, you should try to document the event as thoroughly as possible. Get witnesses statements and information, pictures, and the other guys info. Make sure the witnesses get their story o the police at the scene. If your at fault, I wouldn't do any of that.

First, take care of medical stuff. If you or anyone else is hurt, get the paramedics to take care of them.
Assuming there are no injuries or that's all taken care of, as Yowen said, take a ton of pictures. But also, take pictures of the other person's ID and insurance information. I once failed to do this, and it turned into a whole nightmare because the driver didn't actually have permission to be driving the vehicle, so denied it after the fact to the owner, who tried to cover up their vehicle's involvement, etc. etc. All would have been solved if I'd had pictures of the vehicles and the documents.

Drive away as quickly as possible but first make sure to leave a license plate behind.
...No but in all seriousness, in addition to getting insurance info and all that stuff, make sure you don't say "sorry" at the scene of the crash! That can be seen as an admission of guilt and you can be found at fault for that even if you weren't.

Even if it's not your fault, keep in mind that if the police come out and it's a reportable accident it will probably show up on carfax and the other services. Here accidents with more than 2500$s damage are reportable, and between two cars...that's pretty much any accident these days.

That sounds fair to me, if the car's been in an accident it should show up on the CarFax. I'd probably show a potential buyer the photograph if it wasn't something terrible.

Regardless of who is at fault, don't say you're sorry and never admit fault but don't be a dick about it. Do render any aid you are capable of. Jump out with your camera phone and take lots of pictures, get names of witnesses.
